Course Offerings

Health
This semester course teaches students to look at themselves and their environment.  Physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual aspects are covered during units on personality, drugs, the human body and social interaction. Finally, students are taught the fundamentals of first aid and CPR.  Optional fee for CPR/FA certification: $30.  Open to grades 9-12.
 

Lifetime Activities and Fitness
This co-ed semester course is designed to encourage a love for physical activity at an individual level.  Activities may include walking par course, bowling, tennis, golf, endurance training, and fitness workouts with other lifetime activities.  Fee required for Heart Rate Monitor:  $15 purchase.  Open to grades 10-12.
 

Team Sports I and II
This co-ed semester course is designed to encourage a love for physical activity at a group level.  Many different team sports will be taught and played.  Games may include traditional team sports.  Fee required for Heart Rate Monitor: $15 purchase.  Open to grades 10-12.
 

Body Sculpting/Personal Fitness
This class is designed for the individual who would like to stay toned and fit throughout life.  Pilates, resistance band training, stability ball workouts, and basic weight training will be used to benefit the student’s fitness goals throughout the semester.  A fitness-based project will show the concepts that have been applied in the classroom. Fee required for Heart Rate Monitor:   $15 purchase.  Open to grades 10-12.
 

Intro to Sports Management
Students in the course will be introduced to the sports management field of study.  Coaching principles, budgeting, management of facilities, business concepts, and promotion of sports will be discussed. Special speakers will be part of this course. Portfolios will be a final project for this course. Several field trips to sports facilities will be taken.  Some fees may apply. Open to grades 11, 12.
 

Adventure Sports
Students will be involved in many different adventure sports throughout the semester. Sports may include disc golf, rock climbing, archery, obstacle course design, fitness par course, hiking, and axe throwing.  Fees will apply for this course.  Open to grades 11-12.
