Sean O'Connor

Sean O'Connor is originally from DeKalb, Illinois and a graduate of DeKalb High School. He received his bachelor’s in music education from Northern Illinois University where he became a certified teacher in K-12 music. From his college training he went on to a career in the entertainment industry working at various theaters in the Chicago area and touring the Midwest and Eastern US in numerous educational children’s theatrical productions. Following his music roots, Sean formed an all male vocal octet while at NIU called Octane. Traveling across Illinois as artists under the Illinois Arts Commission, Octane would assist music programs in recruiting, education, and understanding the male voice in vocal music. This led the group to performances for the Chicago Bears, the Miss Iowa Pageant, the American Choral Directors Association, Celebrity Cruises, the Aspen Music Festival, the Salt Lake City Olympics, and Harmony Sweepstakes in Colorado, Illinois, and California.
Mr. O’Connor later returned to education while seeking a teaching position in Christian education. While enrolling his daughter in a Christian preschool in Myrtle Beach, SC, a middle school teaching position opened to which Mr. O’Connor accepted. Serving in this role for three years, he was then approached to consider leadership as a principal position came available. He attended Concordia University- Chicago studying leadership in Christian Education and receiving his Colloquy. He then received his master’s in educational administration from Concordia University- Nebraska. He is currently working on his doctorate in educational leadership from Liberty University and has served as a Christian education administrator for 14 years. He is very excited to begin his 15th year in administration at ACS Sycamore returning home to IL. Besides his work in education, he is also a Worship Leader and choir director in ministry. He has served in this role for the past 18 years. He is married to his wife, Christina, of 25 years and they have three children, Lindsey (22), Nathan (19), and Caitlin (12).
